Santa Clara hotels change flags

Three Santa Clara, Calif., city hotels changed flags in February 2010. The Joie de Vivre property dropped its Best Western affiliation and is now simply the Avatar Hotel. The city’s Hawthorn Suites Ltd. Property’s new flag is Holiday Inn Express. The former Howard Johnson Santa Clara is now the Hotel Stratford. Santa Clara has more than 3,800 hotel rooms citywide, including eight full service hotels near the 302,000-sq.-ft. Santa Clara Convention Center, California’s Great American theme park and the proposed San Francisco 49ers stadium site.
