Abilene benchmark
The Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau reached a $140,000 benchmark in bed tax collections during its fourth quarter. Reaching the benchmark gave the CVB’s advisory board a sense of relief after having to make line-item cuts in 2009 due to the economy. Glenda Purkis, advisory board director, believes the CVB budget could end up with a carryover of about $14,000. The board also approved a 2010 plan of action for the Abilene CVB in four segments including product development, marketing, internal development and local, regional and state alliances.
