Spotlight On: Gettysburg
Two of Gettysburg’s annual events are on the 2010 American Bus Association’s list of Top 100 Events: The Eisenhower National Historic Site’s World War II Weekend, Sept. 17-19, and the annual commemoration of the Gettysburg Address, Nov. 19. Year-round the walkable town’s atmosphere seems as if time stopped July 1-4, 1862, and you are witness to the epic Civil War confrontation that took place there. The Eisenhower National Historic Site, the home and farm of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, was used by the president as a weekend retreat as well as a meeting place for world leaders. To host an event at the National Park, call ahead for special permits. Nearby, the Farnsworth House Inn holds a Murder Mystery Dinner in its restaurant every Friday night from January to March. gettysburg.travel
