Starwood Hotels moves headquarters
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. plans to move its headquarters from White Plains, N.Y., to Stamford, Conn., in January 2012. The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development committed to a $9.5 million loan and up to $75 million in tax credits to help draw the chain, which operates the Sheraton, W Hotels and Westin brands. The move is estimated to bring more than 800 jobs and $40 million in investments to Stamford and save the company 20 percent a year in rent.
