Utah opens up
Utah’s hotels, restaurants and other visitor outlets were raising toasts to the elimination of the state’s infamously quirky private club membership requirement for entry into bars, nightclubs and some restaurants. Patrons no longer have to fill out applications, pay a fee and become a private club member before being allowed into a bar. Hotels will no longer include the bar membership fees in room rates. The state’s $7 billion-a-year tourism industry welcomed the change to “normalize” Utah’s liquor laws and is looking forward to a boost in business.
