Green standards airing
The Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange Panel (APEX) on Green Meeting and Event Practices has released its final draft of green meetings standards and is seeking review and comment from the meetings industry. Discussion groups to review the standards are planned in five cities before mid-September, with more to be scheduled.
The standards are the result of a partnership between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Green Meeting Industry Council and APEX to develop uniform measures for an event’s environmental performance. There are nine topic areas covered: accommodations, audiovisual, communication, destinations, exhibits, food and beverage, meeting venue, onsite office and transportation.
For times and locations or to register for any of the city discussion groups, visit APEXsolution.org.
