NBA Finals gold mine for Orlando

55994164FM_D31988049Gary Sain, CVB president and CEO, believes coverage of the city during the worldwide broadcast will show that there’s more to Orlando than just attractions.

“I think this helps to reinforce that we’re a major destination – not just for travel tourism – but a major destination for business and living,” Sain says. “Sports is going to continue to play a major role in the future of this destination, and it will drive overnight visitation.”

Orlando hopes to become a top sports tourism spot long after the 2009 NBA Finals. A renovated Citrus Bowl and new events center could draw tourists to Orlando for big sporting events like Wrestlemaina and the Pro Bowl.
