Tulsa officially named bike friendly

The League of American Bicyclists added Tulsa, Okla., to its list of “Bicycle Friendly Communities and States” for 2009. The League has recognized 13 new Bicycle Friendly Communities since Bike Month began May 1.

Although Tulsa is celebrating its fourth annual Tulsa Tough Ride & Race, May 29-31, the designation marks the first time the city has appeared on the list. The three-day cycling festival promotes fitness and healthy lifestyles while showcasing the city with events in the Blue Dome District, Brady Arts District and River Parks. The action-packed weekend includes professional-level races, recreational and tour rides, kids’ and youth activities, live music and vendors.
