Get more gold in Anchorage
To celebrate its 50th anniversary of statehood and lure more visitors, Anchorage, Alaska, is turning to gold. The newest value offer from the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is the Gold Card program, which encourages visitors to extend their stay with upgrades, discounts and special offers at participating business.
Visitors obtain the Gold Card when they check into their hotel or bed and breakfast if staying two or more nights. Visitors show the card to participating businesses, which may display a decal in the window or at the point-of-sale. Offers vary from business to business. The Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum is offering an aviation heritage poster, while the Anchorage Museum is highlighting its “Gold” exhibit with a free gift to Gold Card holders I the museum’s “Gold” shop. The Downtown Bicycle Rental is offering a special discount on its Alaska Statehood Anniversary bicycle jersey, while the Flattop Shuttle is providing complimentary ice cream and bottled water for Gold Card holders on its $22 shuttle to Flattop.
