Tulsa expanding
The Tulsa Convention Center is undergoing a $50.5 million expansion and renovation, including the creation of the state’s largest ballroom. The 13,625-sq.-ft., pre-function space, featuring high ceilings and room for receptions, registration or breaks, will be divisible into two-third and one-third configurations. Seven additional meeting room spaces will be located adjacent to the ballroom.
Ground was broken in September 2008, and the project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2010. Crews are also changing the approach to the building, fashioning winding paths with extensive landscaping, replacing the center’s roof, and installing video boards for announcements and advertisements.
The new building will complement the design of the brand-new, state-of-the-art
BOK Center located across the street. Once the expansion is complete, the buildings will be able to work together in function and design, according to the designers.
