Going Cold Turkey

If you’re planning a meeting for a group that enjoys the challenges of the great outdoors, consider the example set by The North Face, the outdoor apparel and equipment company. It trimmed costs at an annual event by creating a base camp for the first night. The move saved the cost of 400 hotel rooms, and gave dealers and business partners first-hand experience with the company’s clothes and sleeping bags on a very cold night.

According to The New York Times, which detailed the event in an article about business trip cutbacks, the groups gave presentations around a camp fire. Now, that’s a great example of aligning a meeting with company or group’s mission.
