British airline considers charging £1 for toilet use

Ryanair, a low-cost airline, is looking to the “loo” as another source of income. Chief Executive Michael O’Leary told The Daily Telegraph that Ryanair is pursuing the possibility of installing a coin slot lavatory door February 27, 2009.

O’Leary says that the Dublin-based airline is determined to make air travel easier and more affordable. The carrier charges £30 to check in a bag, £10 to pay for flights with debit or credit card, £5 per kilo of excess baggage, £50 to change a flight and £100 to change a name on a ticket.

Ryanair is worried that the toilet charge may discourage passengers from buying drinks on board. Let’s hope the “using the loo” charge doesn’t cross the pond.
